Biography
Wayne began singing at the age of ten with his family's
Southern Gospel group, and started traveling when he was twelve years
old. As a teenager, he worked with several gospel groups including The
Continentals and The Messengers Quartet.
As a teenager, Wayne fell in love with rock and roll. He
played and sang with many name groups including four years with "The
Diamonds," and his own group, "The Youngbloods." During the next
several years, he worked in 46 states and over 300 cities, including
New York, Las Vegas, Chicago, Atlantic City, Los Angeles, and
Hollywood. Wayne had the good fortune to work with, and open for, many
of the biggest names in the business including The Drifters, The
Coasters, The Platters, The Tokens, Ray Peterson, The Five Satins, The
Royal Guardsmen, Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears, The Young Rascals,
Grand Funk, Johnny Paycheck, Lee Greenwood, Jerry Van Dyke, Phyllis
Driller, Guy Lombard, Harry James, TG Sheppard, Survivor, The All man
Brothers Band, The Classics Four, The Box Tops, Vanilla Fudge, and many
more.
In the 90's, he was the Entertainment Director at
Wolfman Jack's Lil' Darlin's oldies show club, in Old Town-Kissimmee,
FL. It was possibly the BEST oldies club ever. Lil' Darlin's had a
television show on the Nashville Network called "Saturday Night at the
Oldies."
Wayne has worked for Disney in Orlando, Fl, Busch
Gardens in Tampa, FL, and Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven, FL.
Wayne has never forgotten his Christian roots, and has
been involved in gospel music, as well as secular music, throughout his
career.
In 1990, he did a tour and recorded a CD with Shaun
Nielsen as a Christian duo. Shaun is recognized as one of the greatest
gospel tenors of all time. He sang with The Speer Family, The Statesmen
Quartet, The Imperials, The Master's Five Quartet, and Elvis for the
last five years of Elvis' life. He is documented to be Elvis' favorite
singer.
In the 90's, Wayne had a duo with Paul Adkins. Paul sang
with several gospel groups such as The Senators Quartet, The Florida
Boys Quartet, The Statesmen Quartet, and The Dixie Echos.
Wayne has been the official organist for the Cleveland
Indians baseball team. He has sung and played at all the spring
training games for the last 14 years, and will be there for the 2008
season.
Prior to moving to The Villages, Florida, Wayne was the
organist for Family Worship Center in Lakeland, FL, a 2600 seat church
with a TV program on the Christian Broadcast Network. For the past five
years, he has done programs in churches and healthcare facilities.
Wayne is a very accomplished Keyboardist and a Concert
Artist for Yamaha Keyboards.
In 2004, Wayne's appendix burst while doing a Cleveland
Indian's ball game. He suffered from renal failure and peritonitis.
Doctors did not think he would make it, but God had a different plan.
In 2006, Wayne was diagnosed with stage four inoperable,
terminal cancer. After miracle surgery, cutting edge radiation, many,
many prayers, and God's grace, Wayne was healed.
In 2007, Wayne developed another cancer tumor the size
of a medium lemon. After another miracle surgery and many prayers, he
was healed once again.
Despite these bumps in the road, Wayne's faith has
remained strong and his spirit confident. God saved Wayne to minister
to people through his music.
This year, Wayne will be focusing more on his healing
ministry. He has a strong calling to reach out to those who have been
touched by disease. He believes in the healing power of music, and has
faith that God moves through him to reach others.
In addition to his five CD's, Wayne has just recorded
and released a Christmas DVD which will be available soon on this web
site.
Wayne has been contracted to write a book about his
three "death sentences" in four years, and his healing ministry. This
is an incredible story that needs to be told.
